Secure connection and HTTPS: what each connection protects

Follow a web request, check your connection without drawing false conclusions, and respond safely to certificate warnings.

Two different parts of protection

HTTPS protects communication between your browser and a website. A Secure connection routes selected traffic through a Secure connection server. They address different concerns and can work together: connecting a Secure connection is no reason to disable HTTPS or certificate checks in your browser.

Follow a single request

Imagine opening a page after connecting. If your browser traffic enters the Secure connection, the request travels through its server while HTTPS continues to protect communication with the website. Other applications may take a different route, depending on the client mode and connection rules.

Consider who receives your data

The website itself receives information you send to it. Signing in, submitting forms and using cookies remain part of that interaction. An encrypted connection can also lead to a fake shop, so check the spelling of the address rather than relying only on a browser security indicator.

Check the route and certificate separately

Open a familiar bookmarked page and confirm that your browser shows no certificate error. Connect the Secure connection and repeat the check. Compare your external IP separately if needed. A changed IP does not test HTTPS, and the browser connection indicator does not prove that every application uses the Secure connection.

Pause at a browser warning

If a certificate warning appears, do not enter a password or switch off verification to continue quickly. Check your device date and time, update the browser and retry the known address. If the warning persists, establish the cause before sharing personal information.

Make a useful support request

Tell Zerkalo-Pro support your client application, operating system, test time and exact error text. Provide the domain without personal link parameters, and hide account details in screenshots. Passwords, complete subscription URLs and private keys are unnecessary for this description.

Compatibility depends on your operating system and client version. System proxy mode may not cover every app; choose a connection mode using the guide.
